Summary - Website Changes Over the Past 24 Hours

Okay, here's a list of everything that's changed in the last 24 hours or so here on the website.

  • Replaced old forums with phpBB integrated into Drupal

This already is so much nicer than the old forum software. No more stupid random limitations... good forum software almost everyone's used before... no need to create a new separate account as login on the site works across both. All in all, good stuff.

  • Switched Drupal theme so that content was in the center and right sides, navigational stuff and other information on the left, increased site size to 95%.

With phpBB being integrated, the site felt a lot more cramped and the actual forum posts looked like they couldn't handle more than three words on a line without needing to wrap. Now that we're only using the left sidebar instead of both, we've got more room to play with. I also increased the site size to use 95% of your current browser size, up from 85%. The result is a lot more room, I think... feels cleaner to me, anyways.

  • Fixed up the Downloads link so that releases are actually shown

I was avoiding this in the past because I didn't want people to download the package and then realize that it would be far easier for them to just follow the readme and use wget to download the package to the PS3, but... yeah... anyways, this is fixed up and only releases are shown there now with the most recent at the top. Better.

  • Frontpage News/Blog posts echoed to phpBB forum, comments switched to phpBB as well

Basically, all frontpage posts are now automatically echoed to the News and Announcements portion of the phpBB forum. All comments will now be made through phpBB... just makes things easier for everyone.

  • Bugzilla dropped for a new bug ticketing system

As I said earlier, no one ever used Bugzilla... which is too bad as I very much enjoy using it. Anyways, the new bug ticketing system is far more friendlier to the masses and I hope you guys actually start using it. It's far easier for me to go to one place for things I need to do or fix than it is for me to hunt through the forums for random posts, so you shouldn't be surprised if I leave tickets for myself as reminders of things that need to be done.

  • SVN moved, WebSVN added

Well, I wasn't able to integrate it into the Drupal site like I would have liked, but I've replaced the direct SVN link in the navigation bar at the top with WebSVN, a program that makes it far easier to follow along with the changes I'm making, commit messages, and so on... you know, for those of you who are interested in that sort of thing. Also includes RSS feeds in case you want to monitor portions of SVN... for... whatever reason.

As always, if there's anything you'd like to see, especially in phpBB, please let me know.

I notice that our accounts from before are naturally carrying over. Nice.

Only complaint I can think of is that the "Normal" text size for posts is really big, it's kind of distracting.

Yeah, I thought the same thing but haven't had the time to mess with it yet.

Hmm, I just noticed that by switching to the theme prosilver-embed, text sizes are a lot more reasonable. Also, the theme looks great, better than subsilver, IMO.

I switched it and I see no difference whatsoever.

Does WebSVN offer any batch download? Utilities that will normally grab a whole SVN directory tree won't work w/ it, it seems.

Hmm, the subsilver theme isn't there anymore...

I promise I wasn't imagining it :?

Just use the standard SVN repo address for that: http://svn.thezerogameproject.com/zerogame/. WebSVN is just meant to give people an overview of the repository and the changes made.

I forced everyone to prosilver-embed after you said it looked better, but again, even with that change and with every cache on both the site and at home flushed, it doesn't look changed to me one bit.

Blog/Forum articles seem to no longer indicate if there are new posts since you last viewed. Is that just how it is now?

UPDATE: I guess it shows you if there are new comments if you look at the 'Recent posts' section...it just doesn't indicate new posts on the main screen blog entries.
