Workin'... Workin'.... Website Updates

I don't know about you guys, but I personally find that our forum just felt... so limited. Why bother with constraints and problems when we've got stuff like phpBB around? I've integrated phpBB into the site to replace our current forums... and already, I feel so much more free and liberated.

Use it as you always have. Just three rules:

1) Don't be a moron.
2) Don't post links to ROMs.
3) Don't be a moron.

I'll probably appoint a few moderators for the forum as well. Let me know if you're interested. Since there's no way for me to export our forums to phpBB, let me know if you think of anything in particular that would be helpful to repost to the new one.

On the backend, I've implemented more anti-spam solutions that should help us out quite a bit.

That's it for now, but I've got more stuff up my sleeve (as usual).

Note to self: very easy to forget to set proper permissions so that people actually SEE the shit you spent all night setting up, lol.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm going for. I'm still going to make changes over the next little while to the forum, but this is a great change.

were you hard coding it by hand before?

phpBB is class there's very little it can't do especially since it's all customizable and you know it won't break well in theory anyway.

Helllll no. lol

I was using a Drupal module called Advanced Forum, which is good for what it is, but I wanted something a little more advanced than that... and I'm so used to admining phpbb anyways...

The last time I tried integrating phpBB into a site like this was a complete disaster however. Glad it's working much better this time around.

yeah i know what you mean i've had to do a few live roll outs myself and they generally didn't end well lol.

it's alot more readable now with the updates gone from the right column, what about the old posts can they be ported over or are they gone forever?

Edit - Yeah I just re-read the main post again nvm I guess anything envolving the terminal people might find helpful like changing the resolution or getting into the desktop to copy roms / edit configs that seemed to be main stumbling blocks for most

Maybe now you can sticky the helpful threads and hopefully stop so many people asking the same questions lol

Interested, provided at least one or two other people are also appointed. I've seen forums with only one moderator (two if you count admin), and they're hell to keep up with.
